Marginalized communities refer to groups of people who experience social, economic, and/or political exclusion or discrimination based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, disability, or religion.
The term marginalized describes the person or group that is being treated insignificantly, pushed to the margins of society and rendered powerless.
Marginalization is the result of discrimination.
Discrimination exists in many forms, such as racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, homophobia and xenophobia. There are also more subtle forms of discrimination like micro-aggressions and stereotypes.
We do NOT represent communities that may align with these definitions whose goals are to stifle and/or discriminate against other communities, such as white supremacists or certain religious groups.
